Scor
The County Finals of Scor will be held in Manorhamilton on Saturday night next. Barr na Cúille will be represented in Figure and Set Dancing, Ballad Group, Recitation, Novelty Act, Question Time and Instrumental Music. A bus from the parish will leave the GAA grounds at 6pm on Saturday. All are welcome and if you want to book your seat in advance you’re asked to contact Martina Hackett. Otherwise just turn up on the day.

Feile na nÓg

A meeting of parents involved with our Féile teams will be held in the Community Centre on Saturday morning next at 11.30am. The national festival of Gaelic games takes place in the county during the summer and preparations are already well under way

Junior League
The Junior team continued their good form with a second win of the campaign when they defeated Kiltubrid by a point on Sunday last. The boys are in action again this Sunday morning when they face Mohill in Dromod at 12 noon

Underage Training
Training for both the U-12’s and U-10’s on Saturday morning next at 11am. All parents of U-10’s are asked to register at the dressing rooms before the start of training. Alternatively contact John McGuinness/John Reynolds on 087 6417451 / 086 8064080 for details.

Memory Lane
Back in 1985, the club held an U-16 winter league for the young players of the parish. The following were involved: Team A: James Beirne, Tomas Maguire, Seoirse Reynolds, Ned Mc Gushin John Mc Weeney, Peter Donnelan, Noel Mc Dermott, Brendan Shanley; Team B: Enda Hayden, Damien Mc Garry, Joseph Hoey, Sean Mc Cartan, Sean Shanley, Darren Conboy, Brendan Duignan, Gavan Duignan; Team C: Joe Devine, Mick Mc Gushin, Iarla Hayden, Brendan Farrell, Seamus Mallon, Feargal Mc Gill, David Conroy, Cathal Reynolds; Team D: Paddy Reynolds, Paul Faughnan, John Conboy, Aidan Fallon, Mark Bennett, Ronald Duignan, Leo O Neill, Vinny Canning; Team E: Peter Mallon, Paul Shanley, Brendan Reynolds, Ronan Mc Garry R.I.P, Colm Reynolds, Declan Conboy, Michael Quinn and Brian Mallon; Team F: Benny Mc Cartan, Colm Mulligan, Stephen Mc Gushin, Gerry Gearty, Kevin Reynolds, Tom Reynolds, Declan Hackett and Joseph Hanley. Micheál Mallon, Cormac Mc Gill, Declan Bohan and Mick Quinn were among those who organised the tournament which was played off over a number of Sunday’s between October and Christmas. Unfortunately, we have no record of who actually triumphed but it is incredible that almost 50 youngsters were involved at the time.
