Leitrim v Donegal
The Leitrim team came up just short once again in Pairc Sean on Saturday evening. However, it was an incredible game and one of the best performances given by a Leitrim team for many years. The players have put in an unbelievable amount of effort since before last Christmas and have given much enjoyment to Leitrim supporters in the past few months. We thank them for their sacrifices and for the terrific memories from 2007 including the great win in the Hyde, the excitement of the Monaghan game in Cloone, the trip to London and the immense displays against Donegal and Galway. A special word for the five Bornacoola players who played their part over the course of the year – Gary Mc Closkey, Michael Duignan, David O Connor, Philip Howard and Colm Farrell who did the club proud.

Masonite Leagues
The Senior team play Annaduff in Páirc Uí Choilligh on Saturday evening at 7pm. On Sunday, the long trip to Dromahaire awaits the Junior A team in Division 3 of the league

The U-12 team have qualified for the championship final where they will meet Gortletteragh on this Wednesday evening in Dromod. Our best wishes to the boys who have been playing some great football over the last couple of weeks. We’d appeal to Bornacoola supporters to turn out in numbers for what is sure to be a most entertaining final.

U-14 Football
The U-14 team threw away a big lead against Glenfarne during the week but played very well in a heartbreaking defeat.

Development Work
Recent development work at our grounds in Dromod has seen the installation of new toilet facilities and the upgrading of the store room. Our thanks to Noel Mc Closkey who oversaw the development work and to his team of workers that included Aiden Hackett, Sean Mc Gowan, Michael Duignan, Shane Conroy, Mark Mc Closkey and Morgan Shanley for their voluntary efforts in ensuring the work was completed in time for Féile. Lisa Mc Gowan and Cora Mc Cauley were also busy with the paint brushes and we extend our thanks to the two girls as well.

Connacht Final
A great day for Sligo in the Hyde on Sunday. A great day too for former Bornacoola star Frankie Bohan who was in the Hyde to be introduced to the crowd at the Connacht final as part of the 1977 Leitrim U21 team that won the Connacht championship. The team were later honoured at a Banquet in the Abbey Hotel. Congratulations to Frankie and his team mates – indeed Frank looked as fit as ever out on the pitch and one suspects he could still fill a jersey for the Juniors if called on!
