Feargal in Oz
Well done to our PRO Feargal McGill on his recent appointment to Operations Manager in the GAA. Based in Croke Park, he previously worked as Information and Press Officer and having seen at his first hand his undoubted work ethic it is no surprise to us all that Feargal was promoted to this prestigious position. Part of his role is responsibility for the Compromise series and he is currently in Australia as Tour Manager of the Ireland Team and no doubt if there is a goalkeeping injury, he will be available for selection.

Injured Player function
On Saturday 1st November, a benefit function is organised in the Copper Still for the player injury fund and the club asks for your support on the night. Music on the night by Tom Moran and friends.

Another big celebration in the Conroy household this week, when former player David steps up aisle with Mairead McHugh on Friday in Rooskey. No doubt a wild weekend ahead for many and best wishes to David.

County Final
After a short delay, preparations are in full swing for the County final on Sunday as we face Glencar/Manorhamilton in Páirc Seán at 3pm. The parish has been a hive of activity in the last couple of days with supporters busy decorating the area in the Bornacoola colours and the team quietly preparing for the big game. We’d like to extend a special welcome to all who are returning to the parish for the big day from many corners of the country and from abroad. We hope there is a large Bor contingent in Páirc Seán on Sunday. Best of luck to Noel, Jackie and the entire panel and we hope that by Sunday night we are celebrating a county championship for the first time since 1957.

U-16 Final
The U-16’s played Gortletteragh in a most entertaining final on Friday week last and despite a very brave battle from our boys it was our neighbours who triumphed on the night. Junior C Championship
The Junior C team began their championship campaign on Sunday week last but were defeated by Leitrim Gaels despite an encouraging performance. On Saturday last, the lads overcame a strong first half from Eslin to secure an excellent victory in Mohill on a 2-10 to 0-9 scoreline. Two second half goals from Alan Croghan were the key scores as the Bors enjoyed a storming second half. The team on duty was: Dara Gavigan, Sean Ryan, Richard Bohan, Brian Mallon, Eddie Moffatt, Christy Bohan, Tony Bohan, Mervyn Howard, Peter Mallon, Alan Croghan, Brian Reilly, Kevin Mallon, Seoirse Reynolds, Declan Conboy and Alan Bohan. Subs David Mulligan and Joe Devine. Mayhem in the dressing room before the game when our star full forward discovered he had forgotten his “hamstring togs”; thankfully he still had his hamstrings and went on to play a starring role in this victory.

Happy Birthday
I’m sure he’ll thank me for mentioning it, but all at the club wish to send their best wishes to club Secretary Shane Reynolds and his twin sister Sharon who celebrated their 40th birthdays last week. Shane became Secretary of the club a few years ago following a very successful playing career and has been at the heart of all of Bornacoola’s successes over the last few years. Happy birthday to you both. A quick mention also to Seamus Mallon who added another year officially to the clock this week also!!

Flags and Jerseys

Bornacoola replica jerseys, flags and polo shirts are available to purchase in all of the local shops ahead of Sunday’s big game and there is a great selection to chose from in all sizes, so get your colours on and support the lads.

The U-12’s finished up their campaign recently and continued to make progress throughout the year despite defeat to Leitrim Gaels in their last game. Well done to all involved.

U-10 Blitz
You can start County Final weekend off on an entertaining note at the U-10 blitz in Dromod on Saturday morning when the stars of the future will be in action for the Black and Amber. Kilglass Gaels, Annaduff and Leitrim Gaels will all be participating with the young Bors. Players and parents should note that because of the blitz, there will be no underage training on Saturday at 11.

Club Draw

A note to hand from club draw organiser extraordinaire Kevin Mallon to tell me that the Club Draw takes place in the Copper Still on Saturday night with music by the excellent Tom Moran.

Ladies Matters
Next outing for our senior ladies will be a championship game on Sunday week next when Ballinamore will provide the opposition. The U-16’s played an entertaining game against Annaduff on Thursday last, but it was the Annaduff girls who took the spoils on this occasion.
