Club Draw
The February Club draw takes place this Saturday night in Peter Reynolds' in Rooskey.

Scór
There has been a great response to the annual call for Scor entries, due in no small part to the outstanding work of new Culture Officer Martina Hackett, and the Bornacoola entries take to the stage on home ground on Friday night next in the Community Centre at 8pm. Hopefully there will be a big local turn out to get behind the Bornacoola entrants.

Dinner Dance
The Annual Dinner Dance was held on Friday night last in the Shannon Key West. Among the presentations on the night was the Player of the Year Award for 2005 which went to team Captain Seamus Mallon. Michael Mallon was named as the club person of the year - overdue recognition for one of our truly great club men.
There were also presentations made to the U-16 and Minor managers Jackie Conboy and Brian Mallon for their achievements in 2005, to Conor Mc Cauley on winning Leirtim's Young Hurler of the year and to Fionnuala Howard for her contribution to Bornacoola teams from a medical perspective.
The main presentation on the night was to the players form the successful Intermediate team who captured the Division 3 shield title at the end of the year.
A great night for the club and we'd like to thank Gerry Mc Govern and Patricia Bohan for representing their respective County Boards and of course all associated with the Hotel.
Finally a big thank you and well done to Michael Mc Gowan and his committee who once again delivered a very well organised and entertaining night.

Division 3 League
Training continues for all players on Friday nights at 8.30pm and on Tuesday for the home based players at 8pm. With the Division 3 league due to start the weekend after next with a home game against Sean O hEslins, we are hoping that there will be a good turn out at training for the next couple of weeks.
The Division 5 game will start the following week with a home game against Aughnasheelin. There is a challenge game for the 2nd and 3rd team players against Leitrim Gaels at 4.30pm on Saturday. All players to be at the pitch at 4pm.

Ladies Training
The Ladies team have commenced training under Sean Mc Gowan and Peter Mallon. We'd like to wish team and their new trainers the best of luck in the coming year.

GOAL

A note to hand from Noel Mahon to thank all for their contributions to the New Year’s Day GOAL mile. Noel tells me that EUR 9,116.10 was raised. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir is ráth Dé ar an obair iontach a Nollaig.

Sympathies
We’d like to express the sympathies of all at the club to the Farrell family, Cloonmorris on the death of Mary and also the Daly family Moheraven on the death of Tommy, one of the oldest people in the local area, who was a member of the 1928 Annaduff team and died recently aged 102. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha uilig.

Engagement
Our congratulations to club player and current Set dancing sensation John “Barnes” Shanley, on his engagement at the weekend to long time girlfriend Louise Crowe from Dromod. It was proof positive that the Bors are indeed getting very cosmopolitan as hot on the heels of Brian Mallon’s proposal in Rome, John got on the knee in the City of love itself, Paris.
Indeed, whoever is planning the next Ceist Mór will have to really think hard to trump the two lads! In any case, the best of luck to you both and we all hope you have a very happy life together.

Hurler of the Year
Our congratulations to Conor Mc Cauley who was recently honoured as Leitrim’s Young Hurler of the Year for his performances in 2005. Conor is also an accomplished footballer, but it is great to see the ancient game being kept alive in the parish and one of our own excelling in the oldest and fastest field game on the planet. Maith thú a Conchubhair.

Congratulations
Our congratulations to club player, selector and official Brian Mallon on his recent engagement to Edel Hughes from Edgeworthstown. Edel and Brian have been going out with each other since sometime in the 1900’s and in proposing, Brian kept up that fine Mallon tradition with fountains by asking Edel at the Fontana di Trevi (or Trevi fountain to you and me) in Rome no less. Well, that’s certainly set the standard for the rest of ye. We’d like to wish the happy couple all the best in their future together.

Leitrim Supporters Club
Tickets for the Leitrim supporters club draw are available priced €40 from Sean Mc Gowan, Jackie Conboy, Shay Reynolds, Feargal Mc Gill and Orla Bohan. First prize is €5000 and there are many other attractive prizes.
Gary Mc Closkey had a great start to his season in Ballyshannon on Sunday and with Clare the visitors to Pairc Sean on Sunday, two points to add to the draw in Donegal could start a promotion push for Leitrim.

Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to Daniel Canning who celebrated his 21st on Saturday night last and was well and truly caught on the hop by friends and family with a surprise party in the Copper Still.

Dinner Dance
The Dinner Dance will take place on Friday, February 24th in the Shannon Key West Hotel in Roosky and music on the night will be by Busy Fingers. Tickets priced €35 are currently available from Mícheál Mc Gowan, Tom Moran, Jackie Conboy, Orla Bohan, Pat Farrell and Trevor Howard.

Australia Bound

Louise Farrell has become the latest Bornacoolian to head Down Under. One of the stars of the ladies league and championship winning campaign in 2004, Louise was also a regular with the Leitrim Ladies and will be sorely missed by both club and county. We hope she has a great time in Australia and that her exile will be only temporary before a return to the Black and Amber in 2007.

Membership
Membership at €30 for players and €10 for non-players is available from Pat Farrell, Shane Reynolds and Jackie Conboy. Ladies membership can be paid to Orla Bohan, Niamh Reynolds or Seamus Mallon

Sympathy
We’d like to express our deepest sympathies to Teresa Duignan and the Monaghan and Duignan families on the recent passing of Lizzie Monaghan (Gorvagh). Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
