Senior Championship
A battling second half display against Kiltubrid secured our passage to the County final for the second time in four years after an epic battle in Páirc Seán on Saturday last. Kiltubrid’s ability to score goals was aptly demonstrated in the first period when they led by 3-2 to 0-5 at half time. However, an opportunist goal from Trevor Howard five minutes from time put the Bors ahead for the first time in the match and a late block by John Mc Guinness on another goal opportunity for Kiltubrid ensured our passage to the final.
Our thanks to Kiltubrid for a most sporting game – they have been one of the top teams in the county over the past five or six years and the gracious manner in which they accepted defeat at the final whistle was noted by all.
The Bornacoola team on Saturday was: Gerry Gearty, Jason Conroy, Morgan Shanley, Seamus Mallon, Conor Mc Cauley, John Mc Guinness, Niall O Connor, Michael Duignan, Colm Farrell, Trevor Howard (1-0), MJ Winters, Robert Moran (0-2), Philip Howard (0-3), David O Connor (0-1) and Mark Mc Closkey (0-4). Subs used Jonathan Duffy and Sean Mc Keon.

Ladies U-12
The Ladies U-12 team recently played Leitrim Gaels in the 7-a-side shield final in Carrick. The Gaels ran out comfortable winner but it was a great achievement by our own girls to get to the final. Well done to all involved.

Senior Championship
We qualified for the County semi-final for the fourth successive year with a hard working victory over Melvin Gaels in Pairc Sean on Sunday last. The Gaels got off to a great start with a goal and a point in the opening couple of minutes but an excellent goal from David O Connor helped the Bors to settle and we recovered well to lead by a point at half time. An injury to Philip Howard made the job even harder as the second half began, but some well taken scores ensured a 1-9 to 1-6 victory and a semi-final meeting in a fortnight with Kiltubrid.
The team on Sunday was: Gerry Gearty, Seamus Mallon, Morgan Shanley, Jason Conroy, Conor Mc Cauley, John Mc Guinness, Niall O Connor, Michael Duignan, Colm Farrell, Trevor Howard, MJ Winters, Robert Moran, Philip Howard, David O Connor and Mark Mc Closkey. Sub used: Jonathan Duffy.
