Scor
The semi finals of Senior Scor took place over the weekend and our own Community centre hosted the first semi-final on Friday night. Bornacoola participated in the Recitation, where Louise Staunton recited “A Mother’s Prayer” and in Question Time with Liam Rabbitte, Aidan Dockery and Declan Bohan performing and both have qualified for the County final, which will take place in Manorhamilton on Saturday night next.

Minor League
Our minors were in action against Ballinamore on last Sunday morning with the town team enjoying a comfortable 4-10 to 2-4 victory. There was a very strong wind blowing which favoured Ballinamore in the first half and indeed they took full advantage of it clocking up a lead of 2-8 to 0-2 at half time. In the second half Bornacoola upped their game with the wind and with two goals from Niall O’Connor and Mervyn Howard things were looking a bit better but Ballinamore were always the stronger and replied with two more goals.
Team and scorers were; Harry Comiskey, Sean Ryan, Roy Keenan, Kevin Canning, Damian Moran, Damian McGowan, Niall O’Connor 1-0, Paul Hackett, David Mulligan, Mervyn Howard 1-0, Alan Bohan, Sean McKeon 0-4, Alan Croghan. Subs used were Anthony Mulligan and Darren McGushin.

Our Div. 5 team will have their first game of the year this weekend against Gortletteragh at 12pm in Gortletteragh while the U-16’s under the watchful eye of Shane Reynolds and Gerry Gearty begin their campaign on Sunday morning at 12 when they face St Caillins.

Social
Our presentation function took place in Flynn’s Shannon Key West Hotel Rooskey on Saturday night last at which medals were presented to the winning Minor teams from the last two seasons by Minor Board Chairman Dan Gallogly. The Senior player of the year award went to Michael Duignan, with Brian Mallon winning the Intermediate and Sean Ryan the Junior players of the year and Lisa Mc Gowan received the Ladies Award. Club Person of the Year was Noel Mc Closkey, whose immense voluntary contributions over the years were appropriately recognised while there was a special presentation to Tom Duignan who was chairman for the past five years. Our own Declan Bohan was the county board guest on the night. A beautiful buffet was served by the hotel and great entertainment was provided by The Dance Kings. Thanks to all who supported.

Public meeting
An important public meeting will take place this Wednesday night in Bornacoola Centre at 9pm to update you on Defibrillators in the parish. Everyone is entitled to the use of the Defibrillator. The CPR/AED project will only work with the support and interest of the whole community. If you got one of the flyers which were distributed at Mass at the weekend, take time to read it and come along on the night.
