We began the 2006 campaign with an away fixture in Aughawillan on Sunday afternoon last and after a very close game were lucky in many respects to emerge with a single point victory on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-9.
The team was: Feargal Mc Gill, Damian Mc Guinness, Morgan Shanley, John Mc Guinness, Jason Conroy, Seamus Mallon, Shane Conroy, Pat Farrell (0-1), Colm Farrell, Mark Mc Closkey (0-4), Michael Duignan, Brian Conroy (0-2), Trevor Howard (0-1), Philip Howard (0-1), Michael John Winters. Subs: Daniel Canning and David O Connor
The U-16’s suffered their first defeat of the campaign when beaten by a Drumreilly/Aughawillan amalgamation on Sunday last. This weekend the boys face Kiltubrid on Friday evening at 7 o’clock in Kiltubrid.
Two significant milestones reached at the weekend – the first saw Padraig Jones turn 40 on March 31st (though I still think he has to have been born a day later) and the second was a happy 60th birthday for Mary Reynolds on April 3rd.
On the weekend before last, it was another double celebration as ladies star Kelly Howard and men’s player Nigel Derwin celebrated their 21st’s. Happy Birthday to you all.
