Young Bors make their debuts
Last Saturday saw the latest generation of young Bors make their debuts in the black & amber at an under 10 blitz in Gortletteragh. A fantastic day saw the return of the black and amber hooped jerseys and our young guns did themselves proud in games against Mohill, Drumreilly/Aughwillian, Carrigallen and Gortletteragh.
Our supporters saw some great individual performances and most importantly the first steps of a new Bornacoola team throughout the morning.
Representing Bornacoola on Saturday were; Ronan Mulligan, Clara Reid, Fergal Hackett, Gearoid Mulligan, Liam Mulligan, Seona Cosgrove, Kevin Mulligan, Sean Muldowney, Robert O'Byrne, Kevin Shanley, Shannon Boyle, Aaron Hackett, Michelle Hackett. Dillon Hackett, Karl Mallon, Cian Mallon.

Finally we would like to thank Gortletteragh GFC and the Leitrim County Board for a fantastic mornings football and we would also like to thank our supporters who turned out to cheer the young Bors on.

U-16 League Final
Despite a brave performance in the U-16 league final against a Drumreilly/Aughawillan amalgamation in which we led for most of the game, the concession of two goals at crucial times ultimately cost Bornacoola victory on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-11. The team and scorers was: John Hackett; Sean Ryan, Darren Faughnan, Kevin Canning; Damien McGowan, Anthony Mulligan, Paul Hackett; Niall O'Connor, David Mulligan; Sean McKeon (0-6), Mervyn Howard (0-5); Damien Moran, Alan Croghan.

All Ireland Scor Final
No joy for the Bors in Killarney on Saturday last. Aiden Dockery gave a wonderful performance in Recitation, but the title went to Cornafean. In Tráth na gCeist, a very experienced Monaleen team from Limerick came away with the honours despite the best efforts of Aidan, Liam Rabbitte and Marie Therese Dockery. However, there was some joy for Leitrim in the Ballad Group where Aughnasheelin gained just reward for all of the effort they have put in over the years by finally capturing that elusive All Ireland title. To Cait, Síle, Sinead, Brendan, Declan and all in the Aughnasheelin club we extend our congratulations on this excellent achievement

Senior League
Two defeats recently for the Senior team – the first against St Mary’s in Dromod on Saturday week last and most recently against Mohill on Sunday.
The team on Sunday was: Feargal Mc Gill, Conor Mc Cauley, Morgan Shanley, Damien Mc Guinness, Jason Conroy, Seamus Mallon, Daniel Canning, Gary Mc Closkey (0-1), Colm Farrell, Philip Howard (1-2), Mark Mc Closkey (0-2), Niall Mc Gowan (0-1), Shane Conroy (0-1), Trevor Howard and Brian Conroy. Subs used were David O Connor, Bobby Shanley.
A particular word of congratulations to Conor Mc Cauley who was starting his first game at senior level and performed admirably. We extend our best wishes to Pat Farrell, MJ Winters, Michael Duignan and John Mc Guinness for speedy recoveries from injuries sustained recently.

Ladies Football

The Ladies team enjoyed a victory over Ballinaglera on Good Friday in the league, but the Glera girls gained their revenge on Sunday last when they recorded victory in the 9-a-side competition.

Golf Classic

The Bornacoola GAA Golf Classic is scheduled to take place in Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club on Saturday May 20th. Already a large number of teams have secured their entry and we’d ask anyone interested in entering a team should contact Michael Mc Gowan at 086 2561023

Club Draw
The monthly club draw will take place this Saturday night in the Weir Lodge in Rooskey. Your support as always would be greatly appreciated with the usual music and craic guaranteed on the night.

Gaelic Telecom

Noel Mahon has been appointed as the local area rep for Gaelic Telecom. This is an opportunity to raise money for the club by changing your service provider to Gaelic Telecom. Under the scheme, by switching their phone to Gaelic Telecom, club members can save themselves money on line rental and call charges, but more importantly, 15% of the value of their call charges are rebated to their nominated club. In the last 6 months, Gaelic Telecom have rebated €250,000 to GAA clubs around the country.
