News 07 - 07 - 08

Senior League
A very poor first half on Sunday left us with too much to do in the second half of our league clash with Drumreilly in Dromod. The visitors led by eight points at half time and despite a determined comeback which saw us get within three points at one stage, three unanswered late points secured a deserved victory for the away team on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-8.
Bornacoola team and scorers: Gerry Gearty, Seamus Mallon, Morgan Shanley, Damian Mc Guinness, Shane Conroy, John Mc Guinness, Jason Conroy, Michael Duignan, Conor Mc Cauley (0-1), Sean Mc Keon, MJ Winters, Trevor Howard, Philip Howard (0-7), Colm Farrell and Brian Conroy. Subs used: Niall O Connor, Paul Hackett and Declan Shanley. Next Saturday evening we travel to St Marys for a 6.30pm throw-in.

Division 5
A terrific contest on Saturday evening in Division 5 saw us pip a gallant Aughnasheelin to cement our place at the top of the table. The visitors moved into an early six point lead, but an Aiden Reilly goal settled the Bornacoola nerves and a strong second half secured a 1-11 to 1-7 win.
The Bornacoola team was: Gerry Gearty, Gerald Moffatt, John Shanley, Sean Ryan, Mervyn Howard, Brendan Duignan, Alan Bohan, Feargal Howard, Robert Moran, Paul Hackett, Aidan Reilly, Damian Moran, Brian Reilly, John Bohan and Kevin Mallon. Subs used: Alan Croghan, David Mulligan and Richard Bohan. Next game this Sunday v Mohill in Dromod at 2.30pm.

Love in the Air
Our congratulations to Bornacoola footballer Dessie Dobson and new wife Maria who were married at the weekend. The reception was held in Lough Rynn and I believe a great night was had by all. Another Bor star – John Reynolds announced his engagement last week and we send our best wishes to him and fiancée Nicola Dolan for the future.

George O Toole, RIP
We would like to express our sympathies to the family of the late George O Toole who passed away recently. George was a great GAA man and a well known face to anyone who ever visited Pairc Sean. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam.

U-14 Success
The U-14 team enjoyed a good victory over Ballinaglera last week. Well done to all involved.

Minor Championship

The Minor championship kicked off on Wednesday evening last, when a very determined Drumkeerin side proved too strong for the Bors. Our second game in the competition sees us travel to Carrigallen this Wednesday evening for a game that will get underway at 7pm.

Division 3
The Junior A team have a home game on Sunday next, with St Marys the visitors to Dromod for a 1pm throw in.
