A battling second half display against Kiltubrid secured our passage to the County final for the second time in four years after an epic battle in Páirc Seán on Saturday last. Kiltubrid’s ability to score goals was aptly demonstrated in the first period when they led by 3-2 to 0-5 at half time. However, an opportunist goal from Trevor Howard five minutes from time put the Bors ahead for the first time in the match and a late block by John Mc Guinness on another goal opportunity for Kiltubrid ensured our passage to the final.
Our thanks to Kiltubrid for a most sporting game – they have been one of the top teams in the county over the past five or six years and the gracious manner in which they accepted defeat at the final whistle was noted by all.
The Bornacoola team on Saturday was: Gerry Gearty, Jason Conroy, Morgan Shanley, Seamus Mallon, Conor Mc Cauley, John Mc Guinness, Niall O Connor, Michael Duignan, Colm Farrell, Trevor Howard (1-0), MJ Winters, Robert Moran (0-2), Philip Howard (0-3), David O Connor (0-1) and Mark Mc Closkey (0-4). Subs used Jonathan Duffy and Sean Mc Keon.

The Ladies played Glencar/Manorhamilton in the Intermediate Championship on Sunday morning last. A goal for the North Leitrim team proved to be the key score of the game as despite an encouraging performance our girls went down by 1-11 to 0-6.
The U-12’s are due to play at home to Aughavas in Dromod on Friday night next at 6.30pm when they will be hoping to bounce back from defeat last week.
The U-16 team have qualified for the final of the 9-a-side B competition. Their opposition will be Gortletteragh. Keep an eye on the fixtures pages of the paper or the Leitrim GAA website for details of the game.
The Ladies U-12 team recently played Leitrim Gaels in the 7-a-side shield final in Carrick. The Gaels ran out comfortable winner but it was a great achievement by our own girls to get to the final. Well done to all involved.
