Club Draw
The December Club Draw was held in the Copper Still over Christmas. Winners on the night included: €100 Gerry Boyle, €50 John Gilroy, €30 Seamus Duignan, €20 Michael Mallon, Nancy Mc Donagh, Kevin Mallon, Mary Mallon, Jackie Conboy, Michael Quinn, Mary Mallon, Cathal Reynolds, Mary Mallon, Veronica Quinn, & Sean Mc Cauley. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who supported the Club Draw over the year – it remains the main source of income for the club and we are very much indebted to all who continue to support it.
We’d also like to thank all of the venues who have hosted the draw throughout the year and a particular word of thanks to Kevin Mallon and his select team who have worked extremely hard in promoting the draw. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir. Tickets for the 2008 draws will be on sale in the next fortnight.

Annual General Meeting
The AGM takes place this Sunday morning in the Community Centre at 11.30am. All interested in the club and its affairs are invited to attend. In particular we would welcome new members from around the area to come along and get involved with us for 2008.

Scór na nÓg
A great night for Barr na Cúille at the County Scór finals in Manorhamilton on Sunday last as the club captured county titles in Question Time (Tráth na gCeist) and Novelty Act (Nuachleas). The Question Time team was Tony Shanley, Mark Muldowney and Paul Dockery. Ronan Mulligan, Feargal Hackett, Carl Mallon, Coleen Bohan, Sara Reid, Orla Mc Weeney, Sean Muldowney and Shannon Boyle participated in the Novelty Act.
Both now go on to the Connacht Finals. However, the real celebrations were reserved for the winning of the Club of the Year Award – an outstanding achievement in light of what was an extremely competitive year in Leitrim Scór. All of those who participated – both in the semi-finals and again on Sunday, and all who gave of their time in assisting the Bornacoola Scór effort deserve great praise. Comhghairdeas daoibh uile.

Sympathies
On behalf of the club we would like to extend our sympathies to the Beirne family on the recent passings of Michael John and his sister Mary Ellen (Comerford). Both were living in the States but were originally from Cloontumpher. Michael John of course was a member of the last Bornacoola team to win the Leitrim Championship in 1957. He was unfortunately unable to attend the tribute night to that team last February, but his award did reach him in America. Over the Christmas period, Leitrim GAA lost two of its great personalities in Tony Mc Gowan and Tommy Riordan. Both men gave incredible service to Leitrim and we extend our sympathies to their families. Finally, the death has occurred in London of Dan Bohan (Tooman). To the Bohan and Conboy families we extend our deepest sympathies.

GOAL Mile
A note to hand from Noel Mahon to extend his thanks to all who helped out with and participated in the GOAL mile on New Year’s Day. As always, Noel had the organisation of the event down to a tee and his commitment to this most worthwhile of projects is deserving of exceptional praise.

FBD League
Liatroim got their FBD league campaign off to a winning start against GMIT on Sunday last. Michael Duignan, Gary Mc Closkey and David O Connor represented Bornacoola on the field, while Philip Howard was named among the substitutes. It was a particularly pleasing day for Gary Mc Closkey, who had the honour of captaining his county in the game. Galway now visit Pairc Seán on Sunday in a game which will have a 2pm throw-in.
