Masonite Senior Championship

Bornacoola 1-10 Mohill 0-11

Bornacoola qualified for their fifth consecutive Masonite Senior Championship semi-final with a two point victory over neighbours Mohill in Ballinamore on Sunday evening last.

The Bors started brightly and established a 0-4 to 0-1 lead early on. However, Mohill were very strong in the second quarter and had deservingly levelled the game at 0-5 apiece by half time. They also started the second half in control and it took a goal from Colm Farrell to keep Bornacoola in contention.

However, as the second half wore on, the Bors began to find their feet and some well taken scores earned a hard fought victory on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-11. Team and scorers: Feargal Mc Gill, Damian Mc Guinness, Conor Mc Cauley, Jason Conroy, John Mc Guinness, Morgan Shanley, Niall O Connor, Michael Duignan (0-2), Colm Farrell (1-1), Damian Moran (0-1), David O Connor (0-1), Trevor Howard, Philip Howard (0-2), Mark Mc Closkey (0-2), Brian Conroy. Subs used: Sean Mc Keon, Jonathan Duffy.

A word of congratulations to Cumman Seán Uí hEislin on their exceptional new facilities. The pitch was in fantastic condition despite the monsoons which fell at the weekend and the new stand and dressing room facilities are of an exceptional quality and something all of Ballinamore and Leitrim should be proud of. Next up for the Bors is a re-play of last years County Final as Glencar/Manorhamilton provide the semi-final opposition
