Gaeltacht Scholarships 2009
The Leitrim County Board annually offer a number of Gaeltacht Scholarships to promote the Irish language. If any of our club members are interested in applying, application forms are available from Rúnaí an Chlub Seán Mac Raghnall (087 9751993) or from Irish teachers in the local secondary schools. Completed forms should be returned to Seán O Suilleabháin, Achadh Dearca, Béal an Átha Móir, Co Liatroma before Friday 30 January 2009. You should note that anyone who received a Gaeltacht scholarship from Coiste Chontae Liatroma in previous years is not eligible to apply again and that the scholarship scheme is open to registered and paid-up club members only, both boys and girls. Oral interviews will be conducted in February and there will be twelve scholarships in all, four of which are confined to people who took part in Scór this year.

Membership
Youth Membership of €5 per child (maximum of €10 per household) and full adult membership (€10 for non-playing and €30 for playing membership) is now available from Jackie Conboy, Pat Farrell, Patricia Bohan or Shane Reynolds. All those intending to play for the club in 2009, at both adult and underage level, should note that they must have their membership paid before they can play this year. The club are also planning a registration day for all underage players in the coming weeks. Further details to follow.

Club Draw
Our club draw co-ordinator Kevin Mallon has been in touch to remind you all that Tickets for the 2009 Draws are currently on sale from club members. €20 gains entry to all 12 draws in the year, the first of which will take place in the Copper Still on Saturday, January 31st.

Ladies Meeting
Please note that an important meeting of the Ladies Club will take place on Friday evening next in the Club Rooms at 9pm. All Ladies who intend playing for the club in 2009 are asked to attend. New members are particularly welcome.

Minor League
The Minor league is due to get underway on February 7th. Bornacoola will be in the 9-a-side league in 2009. Details on fixtures to follow.

News 12 - 01 - 09

Annual General Meeting
The AGM took place in the Community Centre on Sunday morning last. Chairman Mícheál Mc Gowan acknowledged that the Senior team had come close in 2008 to capturing a county title and urged greater effort in 2009 saying that the rewards would come if the work was put in. He thanked all those who had contributed to club life in any way throughout 2008.
Officers returned at the meeting included: President(s) - Fr Gerry O’Brien, Shay Reynolds; Chairman – Micheal Mc Gowan; Vice Chairman – Sean Mc Guinness; Secretary – Shane Reynolds; Ass. Secretary – Pat Farrell; Treasurer – Jackie Conboy; Ass. Treasurer – Patricia Bohan; PRO – Feargal Mc Gill; I.T Officer – Finola Farrell, Youth/Coaching Officer – Seamus Mallon; Development Officer – Trevor Howard; Oifigeach Cultúra - Martina Hackett; County Board Delegates (from) – Michael Mc Gowan, Shane Reynolds, Shay Reynolds; Bórd na nÓg (from): Seamus, Kevin and Brian Mallon, Gerry Boyle; and Ladies Board Delegates (from) – Anne Marie Boyle, Orla Bohan. The following were elected to the club executive: Shay Reynolds, Tom Duignan, Sean Mc Cauley, Aidan Hackett, Sean Mc Gowan, Noel Mc Closkey, Vinny Canning, Gerry Boyle, Orla Bohan, Patricia Bohan, John Mc Guinness, Morgan Shanley, Peter Hanley.

County Action
The County Senior and U-21 teams have been in action over the last couple of weeks. Michael Duignan played at centre back for Leitrim in their recent defeat to G.M.I.T while John Mc Guinness started at corner back for the seniors on Saturday last against Galway. Meanwhile David O Connor and Conor Mc Cauley were part of the Hastings Cup (U-21) team that came close to causing an upset against Roscommon recently.

Congratulations
All at the club send their congratulations to Question Time Supremo Liam Rabbitte on his recent engagement to Irene Guckian, Derrywillow. Liam has been part of the Bornacoola Scór and Seachtain na Gaeilge Tráth na gCeist teams that have enjoyed tremendous success over the last number of years and we wish the happy couple all the best in their lives together.
